*Favor: The Unmerited Blessing of God*
"Psalm 84:11 (NIV)
"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
Have you ever experienced a situation where you received unexpected blessings or treatment? Perhaps you were given an opportunity, promotion, or kindness that you didn't deserve. That's what we call favor!
*The Nature of Favor*
Favor is:
- *Unmerited*: We don't deserve it, but God chooses to bestow it upon us.
- *Unearned*: We can't work for it or earn it through our efforts.
- *Undeserved*: We receive it despite our shortcomings and weaknesses.
*The Source of Favor*
The source of favor is God Himself. He is the One who:
- *Bestows favor*: He chooses to bless us with His favor (Psalm 84:11).
- *Shows compassion*: He has compassion on us and desires to bless us (Psalm 103:13).
- *Delights in us*: He takes pleasure in us and wants to shower us with His favor (Psalm 16:3).
*Walking in Favor*
To walk in favor, we must:
- *Seek God's face*: We must seek a personal relationship with God and desire to please Him (Psalm 105:4).
- *Live a blameless life*: We must strive to live a life that honors God and reflects His character (Psalm 84:11).
- *Trust in God's goodness*: We must trust that God is good and desires to bless us with His favor (Psalm 23:6).
*Prayer*
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unmerited favor in our lives. Help us to seek Your face, live a blameless life, and trust in Your goodness. May Your favor be upon us, and may we be a blessing to others. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
